[Watch] WPL Winner Shreyanka Patil Trolls RCB Men Team With ‘Ee Sala Cup Namde’ Slogan

RCB women off-spinner Shreyanka Patil hilariously said the famous ‘Ee Sala Cup Namde’ slogan following the win in the WPL 2024 final.

The trophy drought and the wait for the first-ever franchise trophy of the RCB fans was ended on Sunday night as Smriti Mandhana’s team defeated Meg Lanning’s Delhi Capitals at the latter’s home ground, Arun Jaitley stadium, although the majority of the support in the 30,000-seater stadium was for the girls in red.

The famous slogan among the RCB fans of “Ee Sala Cup Namde (“This time the Cup is Ours”) ” has finally come true, and it has come true because of the women’s team – while the RCB men’s team failed to clinch an IPL title in 16 seasons – with the WPL final win by 8 wickets through a dominating show from the spinners.

Sophie Molineux took three wickets, Asha Shobana took two wickets, before Shreyanka Patil grabbed a terrific four-wicket haul to clean up the tail and lower-order. RCB chased down the target of 114 with 3 balls to spare.

During the interviews with the broadcasters after the win, Shreyanka Patil said the famous ‘Ee Sala Cup Namde’ slogan, and fans hailed the women’s team for doing in their second season – win a trophy – what the men’s team couldn’t do in 16 seasons.

Shreyanka Patil finished the tournament with the Purple Cap after taking 12 wickets.

Shreyanka Patil added: “[on her and Asha being called spin twins] You can call us like that, we don’t mind. We did really work hard, we did have a camp before we played the season. It was amazing to get in touch with everyone and we had amazing team bonding sessions, some drama, some dance and some laughter.

“They keep saying “ee sala cup namde” and we got it. That’s it guys, it is for the fans. Day in and day out we put our hard work and we manifested, we wanted to win this game and show the fans we can do it. We felt like family, we did not know Luke much, last game we won against Mumbai, he had tears, we are looking forward to continuing this. [on asking Perry and Luke to dance] We are not going to leave them, they have to dance.
