Virat Kohli Confronts Umpire After The Match Over His Controversial Dismissal

Kolkata Knight Riders pacer Harshit Rana bowled a high full-toss, and Virat Kohli had already moved forward to play the shot. However, as the ball made contact with his bat, it popped up and was caught by the bowler himself. The umpire promptly raised his finger, signaling Kohli’s dismissal.

Despite the on-field decision, Virat Kohli immediately opted for a review, confident that the delivery was above waist height and thus a no-ball. However, upon reviewing the replays, the third umpire determined that the ball was dipping, and had Kohli been in his crease, it would have been below the waist.

However, Kohli remained unconvinced and visibly frustrated with the decision, engaging in a heated argument with the umpire. As he made his way back to the pavilion, he was heard murmuring and walked off while shaking his head in disbelief. Even in the dugout, he appeared shocked by the manner of his dismissal.

Amid ongoing discussions about his dismissal, a new video has gone viral on the internet featuring Virat Kohli engaged in an animated discussion with the umpire near the dressing room after the game. In the clip, the official can be seen explaining the reasons behind Kohli’s dismissal, providing clarity on the decision.

The reviews confirmed Kohli’s dismissal, showing the ball was below waist height. His early wicket hurt Royal Challengers Bangalore, who fell short by just 1 run. Kohli ended his knock after scoring 18 runs off 7 balls with a strike rate of over 257, including 1 four and 2 sixes. Despite losing wickets regularly, RCB fought hard but couldn’t win the game in the end.

RCB captain Faf du Plessis shared insights into Virat Kohli’s dismissal after the game against Kolkata Knight Riders. He revealed that both he and Virat believed the ball was above waist height, but acknowledged the importance of adhering to the rules. He said:

“It was crazy, rules are rules, Virat and myself thought that the ball was higher than the waist (on Kohli’s dismissal), I guess they measured from the popping crease, one team thinks it’s high, the other doesn’t. That’s how the game goes at times,”
