Upcoming generation of the Jeep Compass to feature an all-electric drivetrain

The American SUV manufacturer Jeep, which is owned by Stellantis Group, is aiming to move towards a sustainable future. It has recently been reported that the next-generation Jeep Compass, codenamed J4U, is set to be launched with an all-electric drivetrain, in addition to EV powertrain options. Reports have stated that this upcoming electric Jeep Compass is scheduled for release in 2026. The company has developed a new electric and ICE-compatible platform, and the Jeep Compass EV will be based on this platform.

According to Autocar India, the upcoming Jeep Compass EV will be underpinned by the Stellantis STLA M platform. This all-new architecture was unveiled by Stellantis back in July of the previous year. This platform, according to the company, has been designed with electrification at its core. It will offer flexibility by accommodating various powertrains, including traditional internal combustion engines (ICE) and new electric drivetrains.

Performance, Range, and Dimensions

The STLA M platform, as per the company, boasts the flexibility to accommodate front-wheel drive as well as all-wheel drive layouts. The companies utilizing this platform will be able to equip battery packs up to 98 kWh. The electric variant of the Compass is expected to offer two battery pack options – a Standard pack with a range surpassing 500 km and a Performance pack boasting a remarkable WLTP range exceeding 700 km.

Charging capabilities are equally remarkable, with a 20-80 percent charge achieved in just 27 minutes, delivering a fast charging rate of 2.4 kWh per minute. The STLA Medium platform’s modular design will also allow for variations in vehicle lengths (4.3-4.9m) and wheelbases (2.7-2.9m). Notably, Jeep’s sister brand, Citroen, is also expected to utilize this platform for its upcoming models in India.
