Tamil Nadu’s Pace Sensation Who Could Set The IPL 2024 Auction On Fire

Tamil Nadu and former KKR fast bowler Sandeep Warrier is likely to attract multiple bids in the IPL 2024 auction because of multiple factors.

Indian pacers who can bowl at a high pace are already a rare commodity in the country. Plus, there are very of them who have as much experience of domestic cricket and the conditions in India as Sandeep Warrier does.

Once again, as the IPL 2024 auction will roll on on Tuesday in Dubai, the franchise owners and managements will aim to lock down Indian seamers – definitely, they will at least need backups for their retained first-choice Indian pacers.

In his category one of the names that is set to attract multiple bids at the franchise table is Sandeep Warrier, who has been released by the Mumbai Indians without the speedster even featuring in a single game in IPL 2023.

Sandeep Warrier sizzled in the Vijay Hazare Trophy; likely to fetch a handsome bid in IPL 2024 auction

While the Mumbai Indians worked around the injury-forced absence of Jofra Archer, Jasprit Bumrah, and Jhye Richardson, and handed debuts to Akash Madhwal and Arjun Tendulkar, Sandeep Warrier, like a diligent student who continues to yearn for knowledge and improving his skillset, honed his skills in the nets, which resulted in efficient performances in the TNPL 2023 and the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

In fact, such were his feats in the Vijay Hazare Trophy that Mumbai Indians might secretly be regretting that they released Sandeep Warrier, who they had roped in as the replacement for Jasprit Bumrah. In the VHT, Warrier recorded two thunderous spells of 4/20  vs Goa and 4/23 vs Bengal to hog the headlines. He bagged 11 wickets in only 35 overs in the tournament at a terrific average of 16.09!

Overall, Sandeep Warrier has an experience of 72 T20 matches so far, which includes a maiden outing for India. Warrier made his India T20I debut in 2021 in Sri Lanka when selected in a second-string squad.

Sandeep made his IPL debut for KKR in 2019, knocking over batters like KL Rahul and Chris Gayle of Punjab Kings.

The 32-year-old is known for his pace of over 135 KPH, his pinpoint yorkers – something which must have been a factor when Mumbai picked him as Bumrah’s injury replacement – and a huge amount of experience.

No franchise in the IPL would want to miss the chance of securing an Indian pacer as a backup to their first-choice seamers. Expect Sandeep Warrier to bag a decent sum at the IPL 2024 auction.
