In a heartwarming scene, the seasoned campaigner received an enthusiastic reception from the home crowd at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Spectators, showing their admiration, entered the field to witness the post-match presentation, creating a memorable moment. Large numbers of fans gathered to witness Warner’s final appearance in whites.

In David Warner’s farewell series, Australia secured a remarkable 3-0 whitewash over Pakistan. The left-handed opener concluded his Test career in style by scoring his 37th half-century in the format.

Warner contributed 57 runs off 75 balls in the fourth innings, playing a crucial role as the hosts comfortably chased down the 130-run target to seal an eight-wicket victory.

Warner Got Emotional After His Farewell Match

Following the Test match, David Warner expressed his excitement about concluding his Test career on a high note. He also got emotional and shared his desire for how he wishes to be remembered by his cricket fans. He said:

“[Would like to be remembered as] exciting, entertaining, and I hope I put a smile on everyone’s face with the way that I played and hopefully the young kids out there can follow in my footsteps. White-ball cricket to Test cricket. It’s the pinnacle of our sport. So keep working hard to play the red-ball game because it’s entertaining as well.”

Further, Warner praised the enduring success of Australian cricket to the committed players in their dressing room, emphasizing their hard work for each assignment. He said:

It’s pretty much a dream come true. Win 3-0 and cap off what’s been a great 18 months to two years for the Australian cricket team. On the back of the World Test Championship win, Ashes series draw and then the World Cup and then to come here and finish 3-0 is an outstanding achievement and I’m just proud to be with a bunch of great cricketers here,”

He added: “These guys they work their backsides off. The engine room, the big three quicks plus Mitchell Marsh. They work tirelessly in the nets and in the gym and credit to them to stay in the park, the physios, the staff that are behind that is outstanding,”
