Sachin Tendulkar Applauds Proteas Bowling, Criticizes Indian Shot Selection in IND vs SA 1st Test

The 1st Test of IND vs SA saw South Africa seize control right from the start by choosing to bowl. The Proteas bowlers consistently took wickets, making it challenging for Indian batsmen to settle on the difficult Centurion pitch.

Despite KL Rahul’s resilient century, India could only manage a total of 245 in the first innings. In response, South Africa showcased dominance, accumulating a substantial 408 runs, with Dean Elgar contributing significantly with an impressive 185. The Proteas’ batting excellence was evident, and Temba Bavuma’s absence had little impact on the match.

In the second innings, the Indian team struggled, with only Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill reaching double figures. Eventually, India was all-out for 131.

Meanwhile, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar shared his thoughts on the match on social media. The iconic batsman praised the Proteas’ bowling performance and also expressed concerns about India’s shot selection during the game.

“Well played South Africa! While I initially felt the South African team would’ve been unhappy after the 1st innings, their pace attack surpassed expectations and showcased remarkable skill in the 2nd innings, in spite of the pitch becoming more favourable for batting as the match progressed. From whatever I watched, India’s shot selection left much to be desired. Throughout the Test, only a few batters, namely Elgar, Jansen, Bedingham, @imVkohli and @klrahul truly seemed at ease with the bat, navigating the conditions with technique and poise,” Sachin wrote on X (formerly Twitter after the match.
