Rohit Sharma Sustained A Back Issue Ahead Of Day 3 In Dharamsala Test; Bumrah To Lead India

A worry has emerged for Rohit Sharma, Team India, and the Mumbai Indians as the India captain has picked up a back issue which meant that he didn’t take the field at the start of day 3 in the Dharamsala Test against England.

India have a strong upper hand on the Dharamsala Test and the side is moving toward a 4-1 series win. However, on Saturday morning, the BCCI gave the concerning news that India skipper and opener Rohit Sharma didn’t take the field along with the rest of the team due to a “stiff back”.

This has caused the Mumbai Indians fans to worry as the IPL 2024 is about to start in less than two weeks.

This could also be just a slight and small issue, because Rohit Sharma batted for a long period of time in India’s first innings in which he scored a brilliant century. But the management and medical team didn’t want to take any risk and hence opted to keep Rohit in the dressing room and give him more time to relax, so as to not aggravate his stiff back.

Half an hour into the day’s play on Saturday, the BCCI tweeted: “UPDATE: Captain Rohit Sharma has not taken the field on Day 3 due to a stiff back. #TeamIndia | #INDvENG”

Jasprit Bumrah, who is the vice-captain of the team, took the leading duties on Saturday morning in the absence of Rohit Sharma.

Meanwhile, talking about the game. India had been bowled out for 477 in their first innings, finishing with a huge lead of 259 runs. England off-spinner Shoaib Bashir took a five-wicket haul. Two Indian batters scored centuries and three scored half-centuries. James Anderson snapped his 700th Test wicket, becoming the first pacer and third bowler to do so.
