The British automotive brand MG Motor India is gearing up for a significant expansion in its vehicle lineup in India. As per the reports, it will be launching the new Gloster facelift and the all-new MG Cloud EV in the latter half of 2024. These new models will be the first of many models lined up by the brand after a new investment from JSW. MG currently offers Hector, Hector Plus, Astor, ZS EV, and Comet EV in India.

First off, let’s start with the details of the upcoming MG Gloster facelift. The company, this time around, will be giving the Gloster an extensive redesign, unlike the facelift launched in 2022. The new MG Gloster facelift will sport a significantly redesigned front fascia. The main highlight will be its bold hexagonal grille accented with red highlights.

It will look exactly the same as the Maxus D90 sold by SAIC, which is MG’s parent company. This will make the front of the MG Gloster a lot more aggressive. It will also be getting a new split headlamp setup. This time around, the main headlights will be vertically stacked, and the top portion will get sleek LED DRLs.

Apart from this, on the side profile, it will be getting pronounced wheel arches and rugged cladding. Coming to the rear, we can also expect to see new LED tail lights. The Gloster facelift is expected to continue with its current 2.0-liter diesel engine options. It will most likely be available in both 4×2 and 4×4 configurations. The first diesel engine option is a 2-liter turbo engine that makes 161 bhp and 375 Nm of torque.

Meanwhile, the other is a twin-turbo unit that produces 215 bhp and 480 Nm of torque. The MG Gloster facelift, with its extensive upgrades, is anticipated to see a price increase over the current Rs 38.80 lakh-43.87 lakh (ex-showroom) range.

As mentioned, along with the MG Gloster facelift, the company will be launching the all-new MG Cloud EV. This will be the third electric vehicle on offer from the brand. It will be based on the Baojun Yunduo, which is currently a popular choice in markets like Indonesia and China.

The upcoming MG Cloud EV, in terms of dimensions, will measure 4300 mm in length and will come with a 2,700 mm wheelbase. It will combine the practicality of a large hatchback with the versatility of an MPV.

Its overall design is very smooth and looks very futuristic. It will get a connected LED DRL at the front with LED headlights on the bumper. It will also get five-spoke aero-style wheels and clean body panels.

Coming to the interior side of things, it will get a minimalistic dashboard design, including a large floating touchscreen and a digital instrument cluster. It will also offer front seat backrests that will be able to fully recline to a “sofa mode” with a 135-degree backseat recline angle.

Internationally, the Cloud EV offers two battery options: a 37.9kWh pack with a 360km range and a 50.6kWh pack with a 460km range. It comes powered by a front-axle-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor producing 134 bhp.

However, the specific variant and features for the Indian market model are yet to be confirmed. It has been reported that the company is aiming for high localization levels and is expected to keep the pricing competitive, likely under Rs 20 lakh. Both the Tata Nexon.EV and the Mahindra XUV400 will be direct rivals of the MG Cloud.
