Maruti Fronx’s Badge Engineered Sibling Detailed [Video]


Toyota launched the Urban Cruiser Taisor in April 2024. This car was the badge engineered version of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx with some minor cosmetic changes. Today, we will talk about the mid spec and the most demanded variant of the Taisor which is the S+. The car is shown in a walkaround video uploaded by The Car Show on YouTube.

Styling changes

The video starts with the front profile of the car which may remind some people of the Innova Hycross. The car comes with a bold styling all around. The front lighting setup is entirely LED. The grille is finished entirely in matte black with minimal chrome elements. Fog lights are not offered in this car.

Regarding the side profile, the car rides on 16-inch black alloy wheels giving the car a sporty vibe. The ORVMs come with integrated turn signals and they offer both the electric adjustment and folding functionality. Other key features in the side profile include thick body cladding, shark fin antenna and roof rails. Keyless entry and push button start are missing in the S+ variant.

The rear profile of the car features a unique sloping roof line design which differentiates it from the other sub compact SUVs in the segment. The taillight setup is LED. The car misses out on necessary features such as the rear wiper with washer and reverse parking camera. Defogger is offered in this variant.

What’s On The Inside?

Now, let’s talk about the cabin of the car. The interior follows a dual tone color combination of brown and black with bronze elements. Soft touch materials can be seen nowhere except the door arm rests. Height adjustment for the driver’s seat is missing in this variant which may be a really important feature for some.

Other offerings in the interior include steering mounted multimedia controls, auto AC, analog instrument cluster with a multi information display (MID), 12V socket, fabric seats, 7-inch infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Rear Ac vents and both front and rear armrest are missing.

Pricing Explained!

Now, let’s talk about the price. This variant with the manual transmission costs Rs. 8.99 lakhs ex-showroom. On the other hand, if you want to but the AMT version of this variant, it will cost you Rs. 9.52 lakhs ex-showroom. The price of the Urban Cruiser Taisor starts at Rs. 7.73 lakhs and goes up to Rs. 13.03 lakhs.

On the other hand, the price for the Maruti Suzuki Fronx starts at Rs. 7.51 lakhs and goes up to Rs. 13.04 lakhs. The Delta Plus variant of the Fronx corresponds the S+ variant of the Taisor but the Delta Plus costs Rs. 8.78 lakhs ex-showroom which is Rs. 21,000 less than the Taisor.

Engines And Gearboxes On Offer

The car is available with two engine options: the regular 1.2-litre naturally aspirated four cylinder petrol engine which produces 90 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque. Transmission options with this engine include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT.

The second engine option is a much powerful 1.0-litre turbo petrol three cylinder engine which delivers 100 PS of power and 148 Nm of torque. This engine can be opted with a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. A company fitted CNG powertrain option is also available with power figures of 77 PS and 98.5 Nm.
