IPL 2024: ‘Virat Kohli Deserves To Win’

CSK legend Suresh Raina feels that RCB star Virat Kohli deserved to win at least one IPL trophy in his career.

The 36-year-old Virat Kohli is the only player in the history of the IPL’s existence, since 2008, to play all 16 seasons for a single franchise: RCB.

Kohli is the leading run-scorer in the IPL. He has amassed 7263 runs in 237 IPL matches, smashing 50 half-centuries and 7 centuries. However, Kohli and RCB have not won the IPL trophy even a single time, despite reaching the final thrice.

Virat Kohli and RCB fans deserve to hold the IPL trophy: Suresh Raina

Suresh Raina, who won the IPL four times with CSK alongside MS Dhoni, said that Virat Kohli and RCB fans deserve an IPL trophy.

Speaking with TOI, Raina said, “Virat deserves a trophy. He has done so well for the Indian team and RCB for years. He has had a lot of success at RCB and his fans deserve to hold a trophy for him.”

Virat Kohli currently is on a personal break to be with his wife, Anushka Sharma, and their newborn son, Akaay. Akaay was born on February 15 in London. Kohli missed the entire Test series against England; this was the first time he missed a full Test series in his career.

The RCB star is expected to return in the IPL 2024 season, which will start on March 22.

Suresh Raina, meanwhile, also spoke on this year’s season likely being the last of MS Dhoni.

MS Dhoni, who led CSK to their 5th IPL title last year, is 42 years old and will be 43 in July this year. No player has managed to play in the IPL till such age. So it is speculated heavily that this year’s event will be Dhoni’s last.

Raina, though, doesn’t have any clue about it.

He said, “I have no idea about this. But he is working really hard. He is looking really fit. This is up to him. He will be in a yellow jersey and entertain the fans. Fans just love him. He will do really well I am sure. He has given a lot to cricket.”

The IPL 2024 will kick-start with CSK hosting RCB.
