“I Have A New Run-Up”

Experienced England seamer James Anderson is eagerly waiting for the upcoming India tour. The prolific new-ball bowler emphasized the need for the visiting team to adopt a strategic and intelligent approach during the series.

As England gears up for the demanding five-Test tour of India starting on January 25 in Hyderabad, their spin susceptibility becomes a noteworthy concern. The team must formulate effective strategies to counter India’s potent spin trio, consisting of Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel.

James Anderson Made A Big Statement Ahead Of IND vs ENG Series

In a statement to The Telegraph, the 41-year-old mentioned that England plans to adopt a more aggressive playing style compared to previous tours. The team aims to draw inspiration from their recent 3-0 victory in Pakistan.

I’m more excited going into this tour than previous tours to India. In the past it has been a real slog and we have tried to grind it out. We will look to play the same way of the last two years but be smart about it.”

He added: “Nobody had us down to win 3-0 in Pakistan and we can take huge confidence from that. Conditions could be similar, not identical, but slow wickets for seamers and we have to be smart.”

Further, Anderson expressed optimism about leveraging his extensive experience effectively during the tour of India, stating:

“India is a place where conditions will not be in favour of the seamers but I’ve been there before and had success, so I’m just trying to marry all that up and make sure I’m in a really good place.”

Anderson, alongside Joe Root, remains one of the few members of the current squad who were part of England’s memorable victory in India in 2012. During that tour, the seasoned pacer had a productive performance, securing 12 wickets in seven innings at an average of 30.25.

Despite acknowledging his forgettable performance in the 2023 Ashes series, Anderson maintains optimism that his hard work will eventually pay off.“I feel the last 5-6 years have been the best of my career. Although the Ashes did not go as well as I wanted it to, there have been many series when I have not bowled well throughout my career and it is just a case of putting in the hard work to make sure it doesn’t happen again.”

The most recent Test series for England, the Ashes, concluded with a 2-2 draw.
