Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan shared his opinion on whether the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 might be the final season for MS Dhoni in the league. After the IPL 2023, Dhoni addressed questions about his future, bringing happiness to fans by stating he’ll push himself for another season as a token of gratitude for their unwavering support.

Given his illustrious career, it wouldn’t come as a shock if the forthcoming IPL edition marks the final season for MS Dhoni in the tournament. Dhoni stands as one of the premier players in the league’s history and shares the record for the most successful captaincy with five titles alongside Rohit Sharma.

Dhoni’s pivotal role in shaping Chennai Super Kings (CSK) into a powerhouse franchise is undeniable. His leadership on and off the field has been instrumental in elevating CSK’s status in franchise cricket. Should he bid adieu after the upcoming season, it would undoubtedly create a significant void in the team, both in terms of leadership and as a wicketkeeper-batsman.

When questioned about MS Dhoni’s potential last season in the league, Irfan Pathan revealed he recently met with the wicketkeeper-batsman, who appeared incredibly fit. Pathan expressed hope that Dhoni would prolong his tenure for the benefit of the franchise and its supporters.

Speaking about the same on Star Sports, Pathan said: “Definitely not (Will this be his last season?). I met him about a month ago. He had long hair, he is growing his hair. I said it… obviously, it was over-the-top, even if MS Dhoni plays on one leg, people will still like to see him play. If this is his last season, I really want him to go out on a high. I feel he will never go out of IPL, he will never go out of CSK. CSK is Dhoni, Dhoni is CSK. It’s the same thing.”
